No our products are not organic certified. But, our facility is organic certified, which means we do not add any preservatives or additives in any of our products.
Additives are ingredients, usually synthetic, which are used to improve the flavor, appearance or extend the shelf life of the products. Anti-caking agents are one of the common additives used. They are used to prevent formation of lumps in several products. None of our products contain any such ingredients.
We produce cold-pressed oils by traditional means i.e. using a wooden rotor. The bottleneck is a process called sedimentation, in which, the oil is filled in vessels with wide mouth, covered by cloth and let them sit in sunlight. All suspended particles will settle down at the bottom during this process and it takes about 3-4 days. If mechanically filtered, this process can be shortened and supply will be abundant. But, we believe that certain amount of the suspended particles should be retained. This is one reason why our oils are cloudy and not clear. However, we are working to increase our capacity and provide continuous supply.
There are two reasons. First, it's very difficult to get a continuous supply of organic raw materials, especially in India. Next, the cost of getting organic certification is too high and it would be reflected in our selling price.
We have plans, but nothing set on stone right now.
Domestic or wild variety (naattu ragi) is not allowed to be imported by USDA because it is considered a seed. Only hybrid or parboiled is allowed. At this point, we are not sure if hybrid is GMO or non-GMO. If it's non-GMO we might bring it in future. Parboiled needs preservatives to absorb the damp smell. Instead, we carry Ragi flour made from domestic ragi.
Yes, all products are manufactured by us in our own facility located in Trichy, Tamilnadu.
